Jaeger Lecoultre has been a pioneer in mechanical timepieces for over two centuries. They developed many pioneering technologies that are still in use in modern timepieces today.
The memovox line was introduced in the early 1950's as a wrist watch with a mechanical alarm function. Although Jaeger Lecoultre was not the first to market with the alarm complication, they produced a more user friendly model that was easier to operate and service compared to its competitors offerings.
This particular example hails from the 1970's. The "GT" line of Memovox watches represented a more bold/sporty alternative to the traditionally classic styled Memovox dress watches.
The oval shaped case and circular racing stripe on the alarm wheel really make this watch stand out in the crowd.
